Privacy policy

Limen is a website design business in Boston, Massachusetts, and a trade name of Robert Williams, a Massachusetts sole proprietor. This page explains what information we collect through limensites.com and what we do with it. Questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
- The prototype form: your business name, your current website, where you think it falls short, anything you write in the notes box, your email address, and the fact that you agreed to our terms and this policy when you sent it, including the dates of the versions you agreed to. We email you a link to confirm the request, so nobody can send one in your name.
- The form's bot check: when you start filling in the form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser to tell people from automated spam. We only receive a pass or fail.
- Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.
- If you become a client: billing contact details. Card and bank details are entered directly with Stripe, our payment processor, and we never see or store full card or account numbers.
- Visit statistics: pages viewed, rough location (country), browser type and the site that referred you. These are counted in aggregate and are not tied to your name or email.
To build your prototype, we also look at publicly available information about your business, such as your current website and public listings. We use listing details like your address and hours, but not photos that other people uploaded to those listings.
How we use it
- To build your free prototype and email it to you.
- To send one reminder email about a week after your prototype, in case you missed it. It includes a link to opt out, and we don't email you about it again after that.
- To reply to you and, if you become a client, to deliver the work.
- To understand how many people visit this site and which pages they use.
We don't sell your information, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.
Cookies
This site's own code doesn't set cookies or store anything in your browser, and the site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Visit statistics come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. Cloudflare, our hosting provider, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from bots and abuse, and its Turnstile bot check on the prototype form may store strictly necessary data in your browser for the same reason. Because nothing here is optional, there's no cookie banner to accept or decline.
The example restaurant site at limensites.com/example follows the same rules.
Restaurant sites we build
This policy covers limensites.com. Each restaurant site we build has its own privacy notice. On those sites we count visits and taps on buttons like "Order online" and "Call" to write the owner's monthly report, using cookieless analytics and no advertising pixels. We handle that information only on the restaurant's behalf.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers to run this site and our email:
- Cloudflare: hosting, visit statistics, the form's bot check, holding prototype requests until they're confirmed, and forwarding mail sent to [email protected].
- Google (Gmail): the inbox where our email is received and stored.
- Brevo: delivers the emails we send from [email protected], including the email that confirms your request.
- Stripe: invoices and payments for clients.
They handle your information only to provide those services to us. Cloudflare, Google and Stripe are based in the United States; Brevo is based in France.
How long we keep it
If you don't confirm a prototype request, it's deleted automatically after 7 days. If you confirm it but don't become a client, we delete your form details within 12 months. Client information is kept while we work together, and afterward for as long as tax and business records require.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we have about you by emailing [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because we don't track you across other sites, nothing changes when we receive it.
Children
This site is for businesses. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
