Terms of service

Last updated October 22, 2026

Limen is a trade name of Robert Williams, a Massachusetts sole proprietor. "We" and "us" in these terms mean that business. Notices to us go to [email protected].

These terms cover your use of limensites.com and the services Limen offers. You agree to them when you tick the box on the prototype form or confirm a prototype request. If you become a client, we'll also sign a written agreement for your project. Where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement applies.

The free prototype

When you send the prototype form, we email you a link to confirm the request. Once you confirm it, we build a prototype of a redesigned website for your business and email you a link within 3 business days. The prototype is free, and you have no obligation to buy anything.

We build the prototype from your current website and the details on your public listings, such as your address, hours and menu. Where we don't yet have the right to use a photo, we use a clearly labeled placeholder or a licensed stock photo instead. Your name, logo, photos and menu stay yours.

We give you the prototype link to review only. Until you choose a plan and pay, you may not publish the prototype, copy its design or code, or use it as your live website.

Plans and payment

The build price is paid in two halves: 50% when you approve the prototype and choose a plan, and 50% when the finished site is ready to go live. We launch the site once the second payment is made. On the Monthly plan, the $100 monthly payments start one month after launch.

Your domain is registered in your name on both plans. We are listed only as its technical contact.

We send invoices and process payments through Stripe. You can pay by bank transfer or card. Prices don't include fees charged by other companies, such as online ordering, reservation or payment services.

From approval to launch

Once we receive your first payment and everything we need from you, such as your menu, photos, and a staff login for your ordering and reservation systems, we aim to have the finished site ready within 2 weeks. Please don't send us your own passwords: we ask for a separate login, keep it in a password manager, and remove our access at handover or when the plan ends.

The build price includes two rounds of changes to the approved prototype. A round is one list of changes, sent together in one email. We quote any further rounds before making them.

If we're waiting on you for more than 60 days, we may close the project. You can restart it later at the price in effect then.

Refunds

Because you see a working prototype before you pay anything, payments are non-refundable once made. If you stop the project after the first payment and before launch, you won't owe the second payment, but the site won't be launched or handed over.

If the finished site doesn't match the prototype you approved, plus the changes we agreed in writing, tell us in writing. If we haven't fixed it within 30 days, we refund everything you've paid for the site.

Questions about a payment or a refund go to [email protected], and we'll reply within one business day.

Cancelling the Monthly plan

You can cancel at any time from the billing link in your invoices and monthly reports, or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've already paid for, and monthly fees already paid are not refunded.

At any time, including when you cancel, you can buy your site for a one-time payment of $2,000. The price is the same however many monthly payments you've made, and monthly payments already made don't count toward it. Once it's paid, the Monthly plan ends, and we hand over the site and help you move hosting into your name, as on the Own it outright plan. If you don't want to keep it, we take the site down at the end of your last paid month. Your domain stays yours either way.

We'll give you at least 60 days' notice by email before changing the monthly price. If we ever end the Monthly plan ourselves, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and hand over your site at no extra charge.

If the Monthly plan ends and you don't keep the site, we send you a copy of your content (your menu, text and photos) within 14 days.

Who owns what

Your content, including your name, logo, photos, menu and text, is always yours. Once you've paid in full on the Own it outright plan, or paid to keep your site on the Monthly plan, the site's files are yours to use, change and host however you like.

Every site we build uses some of our own reusable code and design components. We keep the right to use those for other clients, and you get a permanent, free license to use them as part of your site. Because some of this work is made with AI tools, our rights in it come from these terms and our client agreement, not only from copyright.

We may show your site in our portfolio and keep a small "Website by Limen" credit in its footer. Tell us if you'd rather we didn't, and we'll remove both.

Your content

You confirm that you have the right to use the text, photos, logos and menu details you give us, and that your menu, prices, allergen and dietary labels, alcohol promotions and other claims are accurate and lawful. Please check your hours, prices and contact details before launch. If someone makes a claim against us because of content you provided, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.

Accessibility

We design and test each site to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, before launch, and give you a summary of what we checked. We can't guarantee legal compliance, which also depends on things outside our control: ordering, reservation and other third-party tools your site links to or embeds, content you add or change after launch, and documents you supply, such as PDF menus. If an accessibility problem in our own work is found, we fix it promptly at no charge. On the Monthly plan, that includes problems found at any time while the plan is active.

Other companies' services

Sites rely on services we don't control, including hosting, online ordering, reservation, payment and mapping providers. We're not responsible for their outages, changes or errors.

How we work

We use AI tools to help design and build websites. A person reviews every page and tests it on a phone before it goes live.

Results

We design sites to make ordering, booking and calling easier, and on the Monthly plan we report how many times visitors tapped your site's main buttons each month. A tap is not the same as an order, a booking or a customer, and we can't guarantee a particular number of orders, bookings, calls or search rankings.

Warranty

Except as these terms or your client agreement say, the site and our services are provided as is, without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Limits on liability

We work to keep sites online and working, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. To the extent the law allows:

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Before starting any claim, the party with the complaint sends the other a written description of it, and both of us have 30 days to try to resolve it. If we can't, claims are brought in the state courts of Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Either of us may still use small claims court, including for unpaid invoices.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Questions go to [email protected].
